Below entails my day, then kind of reviews for Sweeney Todd and Repo! The Genetic Opera, then my fangirly joy. OH! SPOILERS BELOW IF ANYONE WANTS TO WATCH THESE MOVIES.
---
Today didn't start out so hot. I had to wear a skirt to go to this nicer restaurant in Columbus with my family for an Easter kind of thing. I was not thrilled. But afterwards, I escaped the clutches of my family and went to my brother's apartment to watch "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" and "Repo! The Genetic Opera". IT WAS BAWS. My broski gave me the DVDs of Sweeney and Repo! as well as a rare Japanese Repo! poster. I'll post a picture of it later.
We watched Repo! first. I think that the movie could've been better but the music was ASDFFGJSAK AMAZING. It was an opera, but I don't like the way the score was set up. It was just song-to-song-to-song. It had an excellent story but the plot could have built up a little more. Paris Hilton was kind of a whore, but that's obvious. It got a little awkward with the GENterns and Pavi and just before the Genetic Opera started. The violence wasn't too bad actually. It all looked really fake, which helped me out because I'm not a big horror movie person. Blood was everywhere and the organs looked ridiculous. But I laughed much more than I thought I would. The acting was absolutely TERRIBLE and I think that's what made it so funny but some of the lines were hysterical too. During "Mark it Up" there were sound effects whenever Luigi threw an organ at Pavi and it was just hilarious. I actually compared Voldemort from Harry Potter and Rotti, and decided that Rotti was a bit more evil than Voldemort not to mention more of a mass murderer--in directly; he had Repo Men to do the killing for him. He was a very jealous man, very powerful too and that's why he always got away with stuff. Because Marni left him and went to Nathan, he killed her when she got sick by getting a GENtern to switch out the medicine with poison which made Nathan believed he killed her. And no one told Shilo anything, even when Rotti told her to lure in the Repo Man and didn't bother telling her that he was her dad. I felt really bad for Nathan. He was so awesome and I really wished he HAD killed Rotti instead of both of them dying onstage.
I really enjoyed Sweeney Todd. It was AMAZING as well. The acting was excellent, the singing was pretty good, too. Alan Rickman played Judge Turpin and did an awesome job. He's always good at playing bad characters. I was pretty surprised, but I actually liked his singing a lot and I really like when he and Sweeney sang "Pretty Women". the guy who played Wormtail in Harry Potter was in it also; he played Beedle Bamford. He makes such a good toady. Helena Bonham Carter was a very good Mrs. Lovett, and I was surprised when she sang well. I can really only remember her from Harry Potter in which she was Bellatrix Lestrange. Johnny Depp was awesome obviously, but he wasn't my favorite singer but I loved it when he held the notes. As soon as I saw Anthony and Johanna was like, "I SHIP. SHIP, SHIP, SHIP." AND OH MY ASDFSGGFH THE BOY WHO PLAYS TOBY IS ABSOLUTELY ADORABLEEEEEEEEEEEE~ At the end of the movie I was really surprised when Mrs. Lovett knew that Lucy was alive and Sweeney had ended up killing her and he didn't know it. I was really sad when he pushed her into the oven and killed her and went over to Lucy's body. But I was really surprised when Toby was the one that killed Sweeney. I thought I would burst into tears, actually.
And now, fangirly joy.
